Collaboration

I love collaborating with people on new ideas for pieces. It drives innovation in my work and helps me connect with what kinds of things people want to have in their lives. Design work in ceramics is hard, and it takes a long time to get a piece through the process to potentially find out you have to start all over. Let me know what you are looking for, and if it fits into my current body of work, we can try to come to an arrangement. Whatever happens I still consider it my work. I make all the decisions about the final piece based on your suggestions. Sometimes its easy, like in the case of a piece similar to one I already make with a specific stamped pattern you like. Other times it can be hard, like in the case of a sangria pitcher with six goblets that have wooden stems. Maybe I would do a sangria pitcher, but I’m not making goblets with wooden stems. There has to be an understanding of the risk involved by both parties. It might take me more time than I think to make a new type of pot and you are most likely not going to get exactly what you imagined, but sometimes the risk is what makes the journey worth taking.
